Philadelphia paid homage to iconic singer and Philadelphia native Teddy Pendergrass last week in a very special way by renaming a section of Broad Street in his honor.

Residents, family, and community leaders were in attendance at the ceremony that recognized the life and legacy of the singer who died in 2010 at the age of 59. The 400 block of South Broad Street in Philadelphia has been officially renamed Teddy Pendergrass Way. The street is located in the Avenue of the Arts neighborhood, where Pendergrass spent much of his life. The street is also near the former home of Philadelphia International Records, where the legendary singer recorded many of his hits. The renaming was a significant tribute to his legacy and the impact he had on the music industry and the city of Philadelphia.
