Romania appoints interim leader after poll setback

Romania's interim president Ilie Bolojan appointed Interior Minister Ctlin Predoiu as interim prime minister on Tuesday, following the resignation of Marcel Ciolacu.

Ciolacu stepped down after his coalition's candidate, Crin Antonescu, failed to make the presidential runoff in Sunday's first-round vote. Predoiu, a veteran politician from the National Liberal Party, will lead the government for up to 45 days, during which executive powers remain limited.
