Free active travel game is up and running
Beat the Street, the free active travel game has launched for the residents of Cambuslang and Rutherglen.
The popular active travel game got underway on Wednesday, September 17, and runs until Wednesday, October 29.
As ever, the competition challenges schools, workplaces, community groups and individuals to walk, cycle, run, scoot and wheel as far as possible around their local communities, all whilst leaving the car behind, during the six week-game in return for points and prizes.
And already, over 7000 people have signed up and have clocked up more than 25,000 miles!
Councillor Robert Brown, Chair of Community and Enterprise Resources, said: “Not even one day into the game and we can already see people of all ages out and about on the streets on Cambuslang and Rutherglen working together to swap the car for travelling on foot, wheels, scooter or bike.
"There's six weeks of fun, so please encourage everyone you know to sign up and get involved and let's see how far we can go as a community!”
