Delighted MP breaks five-hour barrier
Rutherglen politician Michael Shanks completed his quest to run the London Marathon in support of two local good causes - and bumped into a number of his sporty constituents as they tackled the 26.2 miles around the capital.
The MP called it an “amazing experience” as he broke the five-hour barrier in the race, raising nearly £1500 for the work of Clyde Cycle Park and Camglen Buddies.
Mr Shanks told the Reformer: “These past few weeks of training and taking part in the London Marathon have been an amazing experience.
