Kenny McLean spoke for a nation as he described the night of celebrations following Scotland's World Cup-clinching win as “mega” and said: “It's been a long time coming.”
The country is now eagerly awaiting next Friday's group-stage draw to discover where and who Steve Clarke's side will be playing at next summer's tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico thanks to the sensational 4-2 stoppage-time win against Denmark.
McLean sealed the places on the plane with his soaring strike from the halfway line to spark scenes of Hampden bedlam-including in the post-match dressing room where his teammates cheered just like the fans as they watched endless replays of his historic goal.
