Dominant Vikings shake off Broncos

THE Vikings returned to winning ways at the weekend with a hard-fought 12-10 victory over London Broncos at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

Despite dominating territory for large spells, Allan Coleman's side found it difficult to convert pressure into points but ultimately did enough to grind out the result.

The game began in cagey fashion, with both teams battling for momentum in a tense opening period.

The deadlock was eventually broken by Morgan McWhirter, who marked his first start for the club with a try as he took a drop off to power over.

However, the lead was short-lived. On the next set, a pass from Jake Maizen went to ground before being scooped up by Jack Smith, who raced 80 metres to level the scores heading into the break.
