Abuser finally brought to justice
Runcorn Weekly News
|November 13, 2025
A SOCIAL worker who subjected a young boy to a campaign of sexual abuse 50 years ago has finally faced justice.
Gary Gibbins
Gary Gibbins was a teenager when he carried out his sickening attacks on the youngster.
While he went on to enjoy a professional career and have a family, his victim's life was "ruined" by the assaults as he tried to "lock the memories away".
But, having spent decades "wondering if this would come to light" he has finally been brought to justice and put behind bars.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that Gibbins, of Trentham Close in Widnes, was 15 when he sexually abused the primary school aged boy during the 1970s.
The now 62-year-old told the complainant he "wanted to practice kissing", telling him it was "their little secret".
