Hundreds attend outdoor activity track built by volunteers

AROUND 300 people attended the opening of a new mountain bike skills area.

WAVE Adventure, an outdoor activity charity held the official opening of phase one of Zona Moller - a mountain bike skills area off Goodshaw Lane, Crawshawbooth.

People attended in their hundreds with children, young people, parents, grandparents sharing the unique tracks and features which have been built by a team of volunteers over the past 12 months.

Graham Wood, WAVE Adventure founder, said: “Thanks to Rossendale Borough Council for granting a long lease of the land, which has enabled our charity to obtain funding from Lancashire Environmental Fund and Asda Foundation for phase one.

“This has been a fantastic collaborative project, involving over 70 local volunteers, who have been involved in designing and building the skills site.

“We have listened to young people who have told us what they would like the site to be like and they have volunteered, many getting their whole families involved.
