Women see two-goal lead slip from grip

AFTER leading the game 2-0, Dale Women went down to defeat at title rivals Manchester Laces who produced a fine comeback to win 3-2.

Dolcie O'Connor's first-half brace on Sunday seemingly set Dale on their way to victory but three unanswered strikes including an 88th minute goal meant we left with a rare defeat.
In what was a crucial fixture in determining where both teams ended the campaign, Dale knew anything but a victory would allow opponents Manchester Laces or Hyde United to win the league at Dale's expense.
Dale's early attacking intent was on show, carving out some good opportunities for an early goal with Laces defending well.
However, the hosts could do nothing to prevent a deserved Dale opener when O'Connor was alert to the loose ball, latching on and firing into the far corner for a lead inside ten minutes.
Laces had a chance of their own to level but the forward dragged her shot wide at the vital moment.
