Stay away plea as blaze rages at storage company

Emergency services had been battling a blaze at the Storage World unit, on Old Hall Street, since around 4.50pm on Wednesday afternoon (June 18).

Crews worked through the night to get the blaze under control and they remained in attendance on Thursday morning.

Six fire engines were in attendance, alongside specialist fire and rescue appliances, police and United Utilities.

In a statement issued on Thursday morning, Storage World urged customers to keep away from the building, with the firm promising to contact customers with an update as soon as possible.
