I found half-price brands at newest discount store
Rochdale Observer
|September 10, 2025
WITH food prices taking a toll on household finances, most people are looking for ways to save some money.
The cost of everyday products like tea and coffee has shot up and shoppers are cutting back on non-essentials such as chocolate, which official data shows is up by a staggering 17.7% year on year between May 2024 and May 2025.
But there are some places you can go to save a bit of cash and the new discount warehouse MegaRetailer in Rochdale, which opened last month, is one of them.
Open to everyone, no membership is required so you can just call in and use the car park outside the town centre store.
The bargains greet you at the door, where big bags of compost for £3.49 are piled high, but there’s lots more inside.
We found big 600ml bottles of handwash for £1 or £1.90 for two, packs of 70 large household cleaning wipes for 95p or £1.80 for two, and Gillette Simply Venus razors for £1.50 for a four-pack, or two packs for £2.
Not everything is cheaper here, especially if you consider some of the discounts you can get at larger supermarkets.
