CHOUGHS FALL SHORT IN PLAY-OFF FINAL TO BLACKSTONES
RETFORD FC went down 3-2 in the play-off final against Blackstones FC.
The Choughs had reached the showdown after dispatching Clipstone FC 4-0 and Blackstones were 3-0 victors over Retford United.
Retford were the liveliest at the start, Aaron Sennett-Nielson’s ball into the box finding Iren Wilson but he was hounded out by the defence, going down under pressure but the referee waved away peanlty appeals.
Another golden chance fell to Scott Boden as he got the ball, the forward pass to Sennett-Neilson was just clipped away by a defender.
Wilson's cross was just over Boden as the pressure continued but on eight minutes Wilson’s shot was flicked home by Sennett-Nielson.
Sam Tingle crossed looking for Boden but the keeper was first to the ball. Then Boden was fouled and a free-kick on the edge of the box was hit over by Sennett-Nielson before Blackstones had their first effort well saved by Jon Kennedy.
