Tatty, 14, crowned best in Europe at rising new functional fitness sport
Retford Times
|June 26, 2025
A NEW sport is taking the world by storm, and one teenager from Retford is already a European champion.
Functional Fitness is a type of training that mimics the activities that we perform in our everyday lives.
Tatiarna Tomlinson from Retford, known as Tatty, is already a champion at the British Rowing Indoor Championships and earlier this month she was crowned the age 13-14 European Functional Fitness Champion at the IF3 Masters and Juniors European Championships in Den Bosch in The Netherlands on June 13-15.
The International Functional Fitness Federation (IF3) runs youth competitions for ages 12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-20 and each age group takes part in challenges involving strength, bodyweight, endurance, and multiple-movement challenges.
The ambition of the IF3 is to be an Olympic event for Australia in 2032.
It also encourages schools to take on the sport to improve all round health and mental health.
