THE caravan fire that killed Lee Baker and his ten-year-old daughter Esme earlier this year has been ruled as “accidental, undetermined.”
Lee and Esme, of Retford, were on holiday in Ingoldmells when a fire broke out at their caravan at around 3am on Saturday, April 5.
Following their deaths, there was an outpouring of grief in the area, with floral tributes being left outside the Sandancer Pub at the Golden Beach Holiday Park where Lee owned a caravan.
Lee was described as a “great father” by his family.
It was heard at Lincoln Coroner's Court that Lee purchased the caravan in November 2024, and the pair had spent the last few weekends there together with many more planned over the summer.
The inquests into their deaths had been opened on Monday, May 19 and then adjourned for further inquiries.
Coroner Lindsay Tasker reopened the inquests into their deaths on Tuesday, December 9, at the Myles Cross Centre.
She stated that “though the inquests are being held together, they are both separate inquests and each will have its own conclusion.”
Lee’s mum, brother, and sister-in-law attended the hearing.
