The Democratic Front against Operation Green Hunt, Punjab Dr Parminder Singh, State Committee leaders Yashpal jhbaal, Adv. Amarjit Bai and Sumeet Amritsar have strongly condemned the Chhattisgarh Police for forcibly and illegally cremating the bodies of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Comrade Keshav Rao and seven other Maoists without handing them over to their families or obtaining their consent.They said that families from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh had been in Narayanpur for four days to claim the bodies of their relatives. Despite presenting legal identification and securing an order from the Andhra Pradesh High Court
police officials repeatedly delayed the handover with false excuses. On 26 May, the police secretly and forcibly cremated the bodies, falsely claiming they were decomposing and unclaimed.
