Staggered shutdown planned for Portsmouth Direct line upgrades

Staggered rail and road closures will begin over the weekend as Network Rail carries out the final stage of a signalling upgrade on the Portsmouth Direct line.

Four weekend shutdowns between Guildford and Havant will run on September 27-28, October 4-5, October 11-12 and October 18-19, followed by a nine-day closure from October 25 to November 2. Services will be revised and journey times extended until works finish on November 13.
