Hairdresser launches booking web app for small businesses
Polokwane Observer
|June 04, 2026
An online booking platform designed to help service-based businesses manage appointments more efficiently, has been launched by Polokwane hairstylist and self-taught coder Malik Tawane.
The founder said the name Booksloty was inspired by two simple words: book and slot. "The idea behind Booksloty is to help clients easily book an available time slot with a service provider. I wanted a name that was simple, memorable and immediately connected to the purpose of the platform," said Tawane.
The web app was born out of his own frustrations as an independent hairstylist. Without a personal assistant, he often had to interrupt appointments to answer calls or record bookings. "I sometimes had to rely on memory, which could lead to double bookings or scheduling mistakes," he said.
