Capricorn Chorus appeals for support to attend nationals

Capricorn Chorus is calling on the public, businesses and arts supporters for financial assistance as they prepare to represent the province at the National Choral Eisteddfod Finals taking place from December 20-21 at Sun City in the North West.

Founded in 2012 by Moraka Mokgolo, the choir has grown into a vibrant ensemble of more than 70 choristers, many of whom come from underprivileged and rural communities.

Since 2015, under the leadership of head conductor Timothy Matlala, the chorus has transformed into a competitive and inspiring force in the choral music landscape.

Although based in Polokwane, the choir draws members from across the province.

Matlala says the group has become "a beacon of hope and transformation for youth coming from disadvantaged and poverty-stricken communities".
