New mental health facility on track despite delays
Polokwane Observer
|November 13, 2025
Progress on the first phase of the new Netcare Akeso Polokwane mental health facility is progressing very well, and despite unforeseen delays, such as physical site conditions (hard rock) and inclement weather experienced at the beginning of the construction, the project is on track for completion with the anticipated opening during the first quarter 2026.
According to Jonita Steyl, spokesperson for the developer, Networth Properties, the overall progress of the construction is currently above 85% and the contractor is currently attending to the internal finishes which include final painting and floor finishes as well as the installation of joinery fittings.
Installation of signage, and specific loose equipment and furniture will take place this year.
Current external works entail the installation of paving and kerbs, and landscaping will commence shortly.
