DA open to ANC cooperation, 'only if residents benefit'
Polokwane Observer
|October 23, 2025
Following remarks by President Cyril Ramaphosa acknowledging that DA led municipalities often outperform those run by the ANC, the DA in Polokwane said it is open to collaboration with the ruling party - but only if it directly improves service delivery and benefits local residents.
Ward 21 DA councillor Johan Retters said that while the President's comments have sparked political debate nationally, they should also serve as a wake-up call for municipalities such as Polokwane. “The DA is committed to putting the people first, and our core priority is to improve service delivery for all, regardless of political affiliation,” he said.
He stressed that any cooperation must be guided by transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
