Van trauma na triomf met boek 'Die Ander Kind'

Almal het 'n verlede. Vir sommige was dit relatief maklik, maar ander moes deur diep waters spartel om te oorleef. Een van daardie mense is Hannes van Rensburg, 'n man wat nie sy pyn probeer begrawe het nie, maar dit eerder in woorde vasgevang het om hoop aan ander te bring.
Reeds op sewejarige ouderdom het Hannes besef dat hy anders as die ander kinders was. Anders, in sy geval, het beteken gay - iets wat hom blootgestel het aan eensame jare, spot, verwerping deur familie onder die vaandel van godsdiens, verkragting, dwelms, die dood en selfs 'n kankerdiagnose.
'Die Ander Kind' is 'n boek van hoop. Jy is nie alleen nie,” vertel Hannes, wat sy eie verhaal op papier gesit het. Die verhaal is reeds in 2011 verwerk in 'n verhoogproduksie wat in die Pierneefteater opgevoer is. Tien jaar later, ná talle versoeke, het die boek uiteindelik die lig gesien.
