Blairgowrie Golf Club’s Ladies Captain is teeing up an emotional tribute to her late mum.

- GORDON BANNERMAN

Maggie Marshall lost mother of three Ellen to Alzheimer’s at the age of 85 during the height of the pandemic.

Now Maggie, from Kinross, is preparing for a daunting golfing challenge to support Alzheimer Scotland on Thursday, June 26 - a day which would have been her mum's birthday.

“I will be attempting to play 85 holes of golf in one day at Blairgowrie)’ explained Maggie, who marks her milestone 60th birthday this summer.

“It will mean an early alarm call for myself and husband Stan because the plan is to tee-off on the Rosemount Championship Course at 4.30am.

“It's very much a step into the unknown because I’ve never even played two rounds in one day before.

“Stan and I will play the first 18 together and then I will be accompanied in each round by lady members whose help and support will be invaluable.
