Scone Palace is set for snowdrop celebration

Historic Scone Palace in Perthshire is ready for its annual Snowdrop Day on Saturdayand the hopeful white blooms show that a long, cold and soggy winter is nearing its end!
Visitors can enjoy a 'snowdrop walk' through the gardens and take the opportunity to join the palace gardening team to learn how to lift, split and transplant the flowers.
They will also receive a posy of snowdrops to take home.
The hardy perennial bulbs are one of the earliest signs of spring, often blooming from January to March.
They thrive in cold weather, with arrow-like tips to push through frozen soil.
