Blairgowrie actor's iconic literary role

A Blairgowrie actor returns to her Perthshire roots for a forthcoming production about visionary Scottish writer Nan Shepherd.

Susan Coyle will play the naturalist, author and poet in Nan Shepherd: Naked and Unashamed at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

The 49-year-old actor attended St Stephen's Primary School in Blairgowrie and St Columba's High School - now St John's Academy, in Perth.

She started out acting aged 11 in the Wizard of Oz at Blairgowrie Town Hall with Blairgowrie Players.

She also appeared in a 2007 Pitlochry Festival Theatre productions of Snake in the Grass, Taking Sides (which was directed by Nan Shepherd's playwright and Director Richard Baron), The Floeurs O Edinburgh and The Magistrate.

She has since appeared in Outlander, Johnathan Creek, River City and Taggart.
