Initiative aims to foster unity among students while supporting local job creation through Sewing Café

- KEANAN HARMSE

The young violinists in Masiphumelele can look forward to performing on different stages in their new branded T-shirts.

The City of Cape Town's Arts and Culture Branch awarded a Grant-in-Aid to Masi Violin Outreach, enabling the Masiphumelele-based music education programme to provide branded performance T-shirts for its growing roster of young musicians.

Masi Violin is a nongovernmental organisation (NGO) that aims to foster unity among learners while supporting local job creation through a partnership with

The Sewing Café, a skills development centre in Masicorp.

"It's amazing to see our students take pride in what they wear and what they represent — this initiative is about more than music; it's about community, confidence, and belonging," said founder of Masi Violin Outreach, Nadiah Mony.

COMMUNITY COLLABORATION

The NGO partnered with The Sewing Café to design and produce 100 performance shirts for students.
