Residents of Hout Bay's Imizamo Yethu informal settlement are enduring ongoing sewage spills that have turned their streets into hazardous waste zones, forcing children to walk through raw sewage on their way to school and exposing families to serious health risks.

For months, community activist Roscoe Jacobs has been sounding the alarm, documenting overflowing drains and leaking pipes that have turned public spaces into unhygienic and unsafe areas.

Jacobs accuses the City of neglecting working-class communities. He says despite repeated complaints, little meaningful intervention has been made.
