World Cup for new generation

I thought I would start with a sporting story this week rather than ending with one.

I was lucky enough to be at Hampden last Tuesday night when Scotland qualified for next year’s World Cup Finals.

It's been a long time since we qualified, but last week that didn’t matter with scenes of joy and celebration that I have seldom seen whilst supporting my country.

What made it special for me was thinking about younger people who have never experienced us being at the World Cup finals and now they will. For example, the last time we played in the finals my son was 12; he will be 40 when the next tournament starts.

So well done Scotland and I, like many others, are looking forward to next summer.

Earlier this week I was at the launch of the new-build houses in Howwood Road in Johnstone. I met with several tenants who were genuinely excited about the chance of a brand-new house in the area that they call home.
