We've heard SNP promises before

Earlier this week John Swinney made it known that the annual announcement of his government's policy and legislative aims, known as the programme for government, will be announced on May 6.

- BY WEST SCOTLAND LABOUR MSP PAUL O'KANE

We've heard SNP promises before

The programme for government informs parliament and the public what the Scottish Government wishes to achieve in the year ahead.

The First Minister stated that the latest programme for government is being brought forward from September to May to allow for a "full year of delivery" before next year's Scottish Parliament election.

We are told that this programme for government will include measures that will bring down NHS waiting list times and make it easier for patients to see a GP.

There is one glaringly obvious issue that keeps anyone who has paid attention to this Scottish Government from feeling optimistic about these announcements: we have heard it all before.

We know that the SNP is very good at announcing plans and strategies, but which one has ever been seen through to the end and delivered for Scotland?
