March was a great month for birdwatchers at one of Renfrewshire’s best-loved beauty spots, with numerous species being recorded at the site.
-
RSPB Lochwinnoch welcomed large numbers of curlew to the reserve-31 on March 6 and 43 on March 21-which is great news considering the species, which is Europe’s largest wading bird, is in decline across the UK. It’s recognisable by its long, down-curved bill, brown mottled upperparts, and long sturdy legs.
