Trees to be made safe around school

Work will be carried out to make a number of trees in Bridge of Weir safe after they were deemed to pose an "unacceptable risk" to local school children.

An independent survey was conducted earlier this year covering the village primary school, Houston Road, Warlock Road and Woodside Avenue - following concerns from the public.

A single tree was identified as an “immediate risk” and dealt with straight away while seven others are set to be addressed before the end of the summer holidays next month.

A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “The council regularly surveys and inspects trees across Renfrewshire as part of our proactive tree management policy.

“Where necessary, followup work is carried out to maintain safety and environmental standards.
