Well if people didn’t know there was an election looming they certainly know now.

SNP excuses as election looms

Poor record John Swinney uses independence as an excuse for SNP failure

Why? Well the SNP have started talking about independence again.

For the next seven months or so we will hear little else from the governing party, who, come the election in May, will have been in power for 19 years. They want to talk about independence as they simply cannot defend their record whilst in power.

Regular readers of this column will know my thoughts on their failings of which there are many. First of all, they themselves declared a housing emergency and since then the situation seems to have got worse with homelessness figures rising throughout the country.

College lecturers have been on strike in response to the lack of funding, while police numbers have fallen.

Councils have been starved of cash, forcing them to make drastic cuts which have had a huge detrimental impact on our communities.

Remember the Scottish Government fund 80 percent of council services so they are to blame for the poorer services we now must endure.
