Project green light is 'fantastic' for Ferguslie

A contract to transform derelict land in Paisley's Ferguslie Park into a multi-functional greenspace has been given the green light.
Work on the Belltrees Project will start in January
Elected members authorised awarding a works contract for the Belltrees project - worth a total value of £743,999.11 - to Mackenzie Construction on Thursday.
The agreement was approved at Renfrewshire Council's finance, resources and customer services policy board, with a January start date targeted.
Councillor Kenny MacLaren, an SNP representative for Paisley Northwest, said ahead of the meeting: “I welcome this contract starting as soon as early January.
“This is a great use of Scottish Government funding to bring derelict, abandoned land back into community use.
“The Belltrees area is often used for fly-tipping and off-road bikes but with this work it will be more welcoming for the community.
