More veterans will have the opportunity to sample the support, activities and camaraderie as a Paisley charity launches an open night.

- EDEL KENEALY

Sight Scotland Veterans’ Hawkhead Centre is holding the event to ensure veterans who are working still have the chance to enjoy the friendship and activities on offer.

The open night on Tuesday, August 12 aims to give veterans with vision impairment the chance to explore what the centre has to offer-from its wide range of activities and support services to the warm community spirit that underpins everything the centre does.

Staff will be on hand to welcome visitors, provide information, offer guided tours, and introduce some of the popular activities on offer, including axe throwing, Boccia, archery, acoustic shooting, woodwork, and more.

It will also allow the charity to assess demand for expanded opening hours.

Peter Ramsay - who was discharged from the army at a young age after being diagnosed with an eye disorder that causes sight loss - has urged veterans to come along to the event.
