Law must protect national parks

One of my proudest moments in nine years as your Scottish Green MSP came in September of last year, at the end of a very long day in Balloch.

- BY WEST SCOTLAND MSP ROSS GREER

After hours of deliberation, the board of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park unanimously rejected Flamingo Land's daft resort plans for Loch Lomond. Years of campaigning and the submission of over 155,000 individual objections resulted in a huge victory for our campaign to save Loch Lomond. That should have been the death knell for these damaging proposals.

Unfortunately, Flamingo Land won't take no for an answer.

Almost exactly a year ago today they lodged an appeal with the Scottish Government. That is still sitting on a minister's desk awaiting a decision.

This saga should have ended long ago. To make sure something like this never drags on for so many years again, I'm pushing to change the laws governing our national parks.
