Help to transition to Universal Credit

Many people are currently receiving letters telling them that their old benefits will be ending and that they should claim Universal Credit (UC).

This can be a worrying time so we want to help explain why this is happening and how we can help.

The government has been moving everyone who receives the old means-tested benefits - Jobseeker's Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits - over to Universal Credit, so everyone will be getting a letter.

All the disability benefits Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payments and Adult Disability Payment - are unaffected by this change and will continue to be paid as normal.

This can be a stressful time for people but please try not to worry.

The important thing to remember is that there is help available.
