East Renfrewshire planners are recommending the company's application for land at Shillford, on Lochlibo Road, is given the green light tomorrow.

But there have been 13 objections to the proposal with nearby residents worried about the visual impact, increased traffic and disruption to their lives.

One objector said the plan is “completely out of scale for the area” and “takes no consideration of the small rural hamlet of Shillford and its community”.

The company, which specialises in waste management, haulage and skip hire, has been based just under two miles away from the new site, at Crofthead Mill, since 1998.

It currently has 150 staff and a fleet of 70 heavy goods vehicles but it has become “increasingly difficult to manage operations effectively and efficiently” from the current site, a planning application states.
