Green light to construct 125 new eco homes

A major builder has secured planning permission for more than 100 homes in Barrhead in a new sustainable development.
Taylor Wimpey will build 125 homes at Springhill Gardens, a new "gas-free development" that will form a key part of the Barrhead South Masterplan.
It will see a range of house types built which will all be heated by air-source heat pumps, creating the first-gas free scheme in East Renfrewshire.
The pump uses around 75 per cent environmental energy (air) and 25 per cent electricity to provide heating and hot water.
Taylor Wimpey says the green energy forms part of its commitment to implement changes that foster a more sustainable future.
