A Johnstone-based care service that supports people with learning disabilities has received a mixed report following a recent inspection.

- EMYLIE HOWIE

The Care Inspectorate made an unannounced visit over four days in July to Quarriers’ Johnstone and Paisley Supported Living Service.

Based on a scale of one to six where one is unsatisfactory and six is excellent, it was rated as five - meaning ‘very good’ - for its staff team, rated as four, or ‘good’ for how well it supports people’s wellbeing and ranked as adequate for how well it plans its care and support.

Among its key messages, the report by the inspector said: “Management and staff knew people well and were good at building positive relationships with people and their families.

“People experienced compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care and support.

“And support was provided by stable staff teams, which improved consistency of support to people.”

It added that people were supported to participate in a wide range of community activities and that a range of training opportunities were provided, which improved staff knowledge and understanding.
