Chinese Foreign Minister in Delhi, meets EAM, to meet PM, NSA, India-China ties likely to ramp up

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today stressed the need for India and China to move ahead in bilateral relations with a candid and constructive approach from both sides and said relations between the ‘world’s two largest nations” should be guided by “three mutuals—mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest.”

In his opening remarks at the delegation-level talks with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the External Affairs Minister said “ differences should not be allowed to become disputes nor competition conflict.” The Chinese Foreign Minister who arrived here this evening on a three-day official visit, was having delegation-level talks with the External Affairs Minister. He will have discussions with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval tomorrow on the border issue and other bilateral matters. He will also call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.
