Over 10K cops to be deployed for Rath Yatra
Orissa POST
|June 23, 2025
Keeping in view footfall of lakhs of devotees in Puri for the Rath Yatra, scheduled for June 27, Odisha Police has unveiled a comprehensive five-layer security arrangement to ensure the smooth and incident-free conduct of the grand event.
Speaking at a high-level meeting held in Puri Sunday, Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania said over 10,000 police personnel will be deployed across the Pilgrim city and surrounding areas during the Car Festival. The elaborate security setup includes deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs), drone surveillance, and Coast Guard units along the coastline to prevent any untoward incidents. Central armed forces will be stationed at key entry points into Puri town to regulate and monitor incoming traffic.
The DGP emphasised that the large-scale deployment of forces is part of a coordinated strategy to maintain law and order, manage crowds, and respond quickly to any emergencies.
