In a bizarre incident, a man shot himself in the early hours of Sunday under Balipatna police station to falsely implicate two relatives of a woman who had filed a sexual assault case against him in 2024.
Main accused Dipti Ranjan Mohapatra currently undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital and will be arrested once he recovers,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena. Police seized one empty cartridge, three mobile phones, a 9-mm pistol, and four live bullets from the accused.
