IGH conducts region’s 1st 360-degree spine surgery

In a milestone for advanced neurosurgical care, the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has successfully conducted the region’s first 360-degree cervical spine surgery.
The rare and complex operation was performed on a 23-year-old youth from Jharkhand, who had sustained a serious spinal injury in a road accident June 11. The patient was brought to IGH in a critical condition and admitted under the non-entitled category. Upon admission, he had no movement in his right leg, was extremely weak, and unable to sit upright. He also reported severe pain in his back and across his body.
