Citizens can now register cybercrime FIRs from home
In a firstof-its-kind initiative in India, the Hyderabad City Police recently launched 'C-Mitra' (Cyber-Mitra), a virtual help desk that enables vic tims of cybercrime to register First Information Reports (FIRs) without visiting a police station.
Launched by Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar, the initiative aims to provide swift relief to citizens affected by rising cybercrimes such as OTP frauds, digital arrest scams, and investment and trading frauds.
Describing C-Mitra as a "virtual police officer," the Commissioner said the system leverages technology and artificial intelligence to bring policing services directly to the public.
The service is available exclusively to residents under the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate jurisdiction.
