Guv: Eastern India to define nation's growth trajectory

The rise of Eastern India will define country’s future growth trajectory, with Odisha poised to spark a new phase of regional development, said Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati here Saturday.
Speaking at the international conference ‘Purvodaya Perspective 2025’ in the City, the Governor described the event as more than an academic or policy forum.
He said it reflects India’s evolving aspirations, growing civilisational confidence, and a collective resolve to unlock the immense potential of Eastern India.
Recalling history, Kambhampati noted that Eastern India was once a hub of prosperity, known for its thriving ports, extensive trade networks, renowned centres of learning, and maritime communities that carried Indian ideas and enterprise across the seas.
Over time, however, historical disruptions, prolonged neglect, and infrastructural challenges caused the region to lag behind.
