Drivers' stir hits life

The 'quit steering' agitation by Odisha Driver Mahasangha to press for fulfilment of their demands entered third day Thursday, nearly paralysing transport services across Odisha.
With nearly five lakh members of the drivers' association participating and keeping their vehicles off the road, the strike has caused widespread disruption in public transport, even as long queues were witnessed at filling stations. Reports said bus services across major terminals, including Baramunda in Bhubaneswar, remained suspended, forcing commuters to endure hardship in reaching their destinations. Prices of essential commodities have reportedly started rising due to panic buying and breakdown in transportation services.
