INT'L TIPITAKA CHANTING CEREMONY
The International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony and a commemorative walk symbolically retracing the footsteps of the Buddha from Jethian Valley to the sacred bamboo grove of Venuvan at Rajgir in Bihar will be held in December, official sources said Saturday. A major highlight this year will be the consecration and donation of 220 golden Buddha statues, handcrafted in Odisha, to devotees and communities across India, they added.
The spiritual gathering will be organised by the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, and the Light of Buddha Dharma Foundation International (LBDFI), US.
The ceremony is expected to be held between December 2 and 12, with the commemorative walk scheduled for December 13 to 14, an official said. The dates of the event are yet to be announced officially.
