Twists and turns make this story a fun ride

NICOLE Kidman never seems to be off our screens these days.

- STARS NICOLE KIDMAN, MATTHEW MACFADYEN AND GAEL GARCIA BERNAL TALK TO YOLANTHE FAWEHINMI ABOUT NEW THRILLER HOLLAND

Twists and turns make this story a fun ride

We recently saw the Oscar winner in erotic drama Babygirl, and before that she gave a brilliant performance in the binge-watchable Netflix mini-series The Perfect Couple.

Now the versatile star is portraying one half of another seemingly perfect couple in Prime Video's Holland.

She is Nancy Vandergroot, a meticulous teacher, mother and wife, who lives a seemingly wholesome life with her optometrist husband Fred Vandergroot, played by Succession's Matthew Macfadyen, and son Harry, played by Belfast's Jude Hill, 14.

Set in the picturesque, tulip-filled town of Holland, Michigan, an actual place famed for its Dutch-themed attraction, the story takes a chilling turn when Nancy uncovers a disturbing secret after losing her earring. It appears that nothing is as it seems after all.

She recruits her trusted colleague and friend Dave Delgado, played by Gael Garcia Bernal, 46, to join her on her amateur investigation.

"I would describe the story as dark, funny, [and] suspenseful, but also thrilling and romantic and relatable and empowering. And then those twists and turns just keep coming," says Nicole, 57.

"When we meet Nancy, nothing in particular about her life is going wrong," she adds.

"We see her house and family and she is somewhat of a picture of what we're told success and stability look like. But we very quickly see that even though her life appears well and good, she doesn't feel like it is.
