Tram safety scheme could be extended to bus services

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE'S police boss hopes a scheme to boost public safety on the trams could be extended to buses.

Operation Safenet was discussed by Police and Crime Commissioner Gary Godden at the county's police and crime panel last week.
The yearlong pilot scheme, launched in June as a collaboration between Nottinghamshire Police and tram operator Nottingham Express Transit (NET), is intended to keep the public safe on the city’s 20-mile tram network, particularly women and girls.
