Three heroes honoured for saving man who fell into icy river

AN 84-year-old man was rescued by three brave members of the public after falling into a freezing marina.

The pensioner fell into the biting-cold water of the River Trent at Beeston Marina at around 10.46am on February 27.

He had been spotted by three passersby - Sarah, David and Oscar - who had gained access to a boat from the pontoon at the marina.

As the man slipped beneath the surface, hero David made a split-second decision to dive into the cold water.
