'They must be having a laugh!' Locals baffled as lines painted around car

A COUNCIL worker painted double yellow lines around a parked car - leaving people in the area “laughing” at the “hilarious” spectacle.

The lines were removed but traces could still be seen

While the lines around the car were removed yesterday, residual paint was still visible when our reporter visited, and the car's tyres were tinged with yellow too.

The lines were painted near the corner of Station Street and Middleton Street, near Ilkeston railway station, by Derbyshire County Council.

“It’s hilarious. We're all laughing about it,” said a shop owner in the nearby Armstrong’s Mill Outlet.

“We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw it, and we all came to look at it first thing this morning.”

Melissa, landlord of the Dewdrop Inn pub opposite the scene, said: “We didn’t know they would be painting the lines on the street.
